The Story Behind Palladium
From Romanesque Roots to a Modern Landmark
The site’s history dates back to the 12th century, with Romanesque palace remains still visible inside the centre.
In the 17th century, the grounds, where Palladium shopping centre is situated, were occupied by a Capuchin monastery. From the late 18th century, the area served military purposes, evolving into the extensive Josef Barracks complex with a riding hall.
The location also holds a special place in Czech culture: in 1834, while serving in the barracks, Czech playwright Josef Kajetán Tyl composed the Czech national anthem here.
Revitalisation and Vision
Between 2005 and 2007, the area underwent a major transformation under the guidance of heritage preservation authorities.
The redevelopment preserved the neo-Gothic façades of the former barracks as well as the original wooden trusses of the riding hall while integrating contemporary retail, offices, and underground parking.
Thanks to its history and the sensitive connection of historical buildings with modern architecture, Palladium creates a unique atmosphere, which has made it an attractive destination for visitors from home and abroad, and makes shopping a real experience.
The popularity of the Palladium shopping centre was confirmed by the public and a professional jury by awarding the prestigious Superbrands award for 2023, 2024 and 2025 for the best brands in the Czech Republic.

PS Group regularly renews its ISO 14001:2015 certification (Environmental management systems), actually valid till 2027.
As part of CSR, Palladium supports projects such as the “Tree of Joy” in cooperation with the Radost dětem Foundation, along with other charitable activities.
